Rainbows & Stars
At Eastbury Community Primary School we pride ourselves on everybody working as a team in order to be successful. Across the school we have two families, Rainbows and Stars. These families work together to nurture one another and support each other with their learning. Each family consists of a class from each year group from Reception to Year three, building with 4,5, and 6 as we continue to grow. They share a family assembly each week and get the opportunity to work together during curriculum time. Each Year three child also has a buddy from Reception who they encourage in their learning and support them in their early experiences of school.
At the end of the year the family has a family picnic where they get to eat and play together to celebrate their achievements.
We are very proud to have our very own school parliament! This is an opportunity to hear the views of all pupils through a democratic process.
Each class has two class councillors. The councillors are responsible for collecting the views and issues raised in their classes. In Year three, instead of councillors, each class has two MPs (Members of Parliament) who lead their council in bi-weekly meetings. They take minutes and chair the meeting, supported by a Deputy Headteacher. These councils are arranged in Eastbury Family groupings.
The MPs from each Eastbury Community Family then meet with the Headteacher each half term.
A special 'Polling Day' takes place to vote for the councillors and MPs- children have to visit the school hall to vote on ballot papers and enter into a box.
