University

If you successfully complete level 3 courses such as A’ Levels or Level 3 BTECs you may choose to go on and study for a Degree at University. Over the last few years approximately 90 Eastbury Comprehensive School students each year have chosen to follow this route.

Currently the student fees for a degree are up to £9,000 per year for most students. However, a recent study suggested that over the course of a working life time a graduate (a person with a degree qualification) would earn up to £200,000 more than a non-graduate (someone without a degree). So despite the initial costs it is often still a good decision to go on to University.

www.ucas.com is a good place to start when thinking about what course to study or where to study it. You will eventually do your applications through this site. Other sites that may be helpful are www.opendays.com which gives a calendar of when each Universities Open days are approaching and you and your parents might like www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk as this gives advice on seeking grants and a range of other issues.

If you are applying to University you should look at www.applytouni.com or speak to Ms J Moore, Mr C Alkis or the Sixth form team.
